Osprey survey summary. It was expecting that eggs would have begun to hatch, but the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Osprey appear to be breeding later than those on the Lynnhaven River.
15 Osprey nests were observed – all platforms: 8 nest were active with eggs 2 nest were active without eggs 5 nest were not active
Of the 8 active nests: 6 had 3 eggs = 18 eggs 1 had 2 eggs = 2 eggs 1 had 1 egg = 1 egg Total eggs = 21 eggs
A second survey is recommended in order to determine possible banding date(s) when nestlings are 30 to 40 days of age. I suggest the week of May 25-29.
